I want to continue to have opportunities to portray diverse roles -neighbor, juror, homeless woman, public defender, space alien…..) where my disability (cerebral palsy which mildly effects my speech and gait) is incidental to the character or storyline. I see my disability not as a limitation but as a wonderful opportunity to add another dimension to the diverse images of The multicultural American Scene” My life experiences give me an rich emotional pallet to infuse to every role I play.
Diana Elizabeth Jordan has literally been fighting adversity since the minute she was born when doctors worked on her for 45 minutes before she started breathing on her own. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy (which mildly affects her speech and gait) she grew up determined not let anything stop her from pursuing her dreams. She has dedicated to career to entertaining, enlightening, inspiring and empowering audiences through her wok as an actor, storyteller-speaker, expressive arts facilitator and creative entrepreneur.
I believe recruiters have a responsibility to help drive culture change in a positive way. We are often the front line and “example” to the professional world on behalf of our companies and partners. It’s not enough to just do our job – we have to use our influence in a way that drives diversity, focuses on “screening in,” and benefits not just companies but job seekers as well.
